چکیده

Objective: The purpose of this study was to compare the apically extruded debris during endodontic retreatment of teeth with open apices using hand instruments and rotary instruments with continuous rotation and reciprocation. Methodology: Forty-five single-rooted maxillary incisors and canines were used. The root tips were dissected and #1 Gates Glidden burs were allowed to protrude 1 mm beyond the apex. After root canal shaping and filling using AH Plus and gutta-percha, the teeth were randomly divided into 3 groups (n=15). Removal of filling was performed as follows: Group 1: ProTaper Universal-Retreatment files using continuous rotation + ProTaper Universal files Group 2: K-type hand files Group 3: Reciproc files using the reciprocating motion. The extruded debris was collected in glass vials. The weight of the collecting vials was measured before and after instrumentation using a microbalance and the difference was recorded as the amount of extruded debris. The data were statistically analysed using Kruskall Wallis and Bonferroni corrected Mann Whitney U test. Results: Statistical analysis showed that the amount of extrusion was significantly less in rotary systems compared to hand instruments and reciprocating systems (p<0.05). On the other hand, the amount of extrusion in the reciprocating group was significantly lower compared to hand instruments (p<0.05) Conclusion: The amount of extrusion in Ni-Ti instruments using a continuous rotation was significantly lower compared to hand instruments and Ni-Ti instruments using a reciprocating motion in teeth with

Efficacy of two rotary NiTi instruments in the removal of Gutta-Percha during root canal retreatment.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of ProTaper and K3 in the removal of gutta-percha during root canal retreatment in comparison with hand Hedstrom files. Time of gutta-percha removal and amount of apically extruded debris were also evaluated. Sixty extracted single-rooted anterior teeth and premolars were instrumented and obturated with laterally condensed gutta-percha techniqu...

Impact of different file systems on the amount of apically extruded debris during endodontic retreatment

OBJECTIVE The goal of present study was to determine the effect of different nickel-titanium file systems on the amount of apically extruded debris during endodontic retreatment: D-RaCe retreatment systems, EdgeFile XR retreatment rotary files, and Reciproc R40. MATERIALS AND METHODS Thirty-six single-rooted prepared mandibular premolar teeth were filled with Gutta-percha and AH Plus sealer. ...

INTRODUCTION The purpose of this study was to compare the in vitro amount of apically extruded debris with new endodontic rotary nickel-titanium instruments. METHODS Sixty mandibular premolars were instrumented up to size 25 using ProTaper Universal (Dentsply Maillefer, Ballaigues, Switzerland), ProTaper Next (Dentsply Maillefer), Twisted File Adaptive (SybronEndo, Orange, CA), and HyFlex (Co...

Comparison of debris extruded apically and working time used by ProTaper Universal rotary and ProTaper retreatment system during gutta-percha removal

OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to evaluate the in vitro action of ProTaper retreatment files and ProTaper Universal in the retreatment of mandibular premolars. MATERIAL AND METHODS The amount of debris extruded apically was measured and the time to reach the working length and to complete the removal of gutta-percha was observed. Thirty teeth had their canals prepared using ProTaper Univ...
